Oakley’s Chrissie Wellington Mashes Through Ironman 70.3 at Timberman, Owns Swim Stage
Oakley’s star triathlete blasted through the swim stage at Ironman 70.3, bolting out of the water in a mere 25:40 – just a few minutes behind men’s champion Andy Potts, who came out with a 22:43 split in his own swim stage. The result: Chrissie finished 10th overall, won her third consecutive Timberman title and set a course record of her own at 4 hours, 10 minutes and 11 seconds. And it was a full 14 minutes ahead of the second place finisher.

Spain’s Javier Gomez gazed at the crowd from atop the podium at the Dextro Energy Triathlon World Championship Series stop in London the past week – winning the fifth event of the tour after a hard-fought duel with a pair of Brits named Brownlee. The triumph came on the heels of his win in Hamburg just a week before.
