Oakley Visits The 27 Time World Champion New York Yankees
Parked inside George Steinbrenner Field right next to Monument Park, the Oakley Rolling O Lab brought fun and education to both sell out crowds this weekend. First on Friday the Yankees played the Braves on a picture perfect day with unseasonably cool temps in the mid 60s. At noon Yankees past and present met at the Rolling O Lab for a fan appearance – Goose Gossage and Joba Chamberlain.
Goose stuck around and signed autographs for an hour allowing the sell-out Friday crowd to meet a living legend in the 2008 Hall of Fame inductee for photo ops. In total some 300 fans gained autographs, photos and private tours of the Rolling O Lab.
On the field, Friday’s game produced only a few highlights, but showcased over a dozen players wearing Oakley eyewear on the field, including new signee, Andruw Jones. Andruw was recently picked up by the New York Yankees to play leftfield and bring his big stick. A long time Oakley eyewear player, Jones showed signs of his remaining brilliance by belting a double off the wall in his first at bat.
Topping off Oakley’s presence on the field for Friday’s game, the brand was the official sponsor of the game. Two pairs of the Yankee MLB Oakley eyewear were given away at the end of the fourth and fifth innings. And in the stands, Oakley hosted executives from Champs Sports inside the Yankee #7 suite directly behind home plate.
To finish the brand’s stay inside Steinbrenner Field, Oakley opened up the Rolling O Lab to another sell-out crowd on Sunday with the Yankees hosting the Twins. And once again Goose Gossage came out to sign more autographs and photo ops for the Yankee faithful, which created a line that wrapped around the block. Goose made sure each fan that stood in line would receive an autograph and tour inside the Rolling O Lab.
The game on Sunday was stacked with players and coaches wearing an assortment of custom and MLB official eyewear on both teams from the starting infield of the Twins to Nick Swisher in the outfield for the Yanks.
A big thank you needs to go out to the front office of the Yankees for letting us have such a primetime location and chance to educate their loyal fan base. Additionally, a big thanks to Goose for being such a great ambassador for the brand and signing autographs on both days.
