Three! NASCAR Star Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Owns Nationwide at Iowa Again, Matches Track Record
If you still don’t know Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s name, know it now.
Oakley’s defending NASCAR Nationwide Champion is charging along in his campaign to dazzle racing fans far and wide – absolutely dominating Iowa Speedway this past weekend to match a track record by leading 209 laps straight to victory at the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250. The current Championship standings leader tallied his third straight win in Iowa and his second straight on the season, extending his overall lead to 28.
“It almost feels like a hometown race to us now,” Ricky said, rocking his Oakley eyewear, racing gloves and racing boots. “This is the way you want to win ’em. You want to go out and dominate.”
Oh, he dominated alright.
Lap 31 saw the Oakley speedster pass Sam Hornish Jr. – never relinquishing the lead outside of a mere 11 laps.
Only cautions would slow the Mississippi racer from his advantages that built to more than five seconds at times during the race.
“We got out front and just maintained. I wasn’t worried about anyone else in the field — I was worried about the gap between us and second and I maintained that. If they had faster race cars, they should’ve been up there in front of us.”
A typically massive and raucous NASCAR crowd saw Ricky grab glory – pointing at the fans in celebration…Oakley style.
Congratulations to Ricky for the amazing feat, the record, the victory and the points lead!
