Big Easy: Motocross Ripper Justin Barcia Seals Supercross Lites East Championship in New Orleans
Justin Barcia’s ferocity on the track has him in the hunt for victory and dominance every single race.
But with an already ultra commanding lead in the overall Supercross Lites East standings coming into Supercross New Orleans, Top 4 was all he needed to clinch the heralded title. And he delivered…big time – finishing in the fourth spot to raise the Championship Trophy in the Big Easy following a series of battles throughout an electric evening.
“Winning this second championship is truly mind-blowing and I am so excited,” Justin said, rocking his Oakley MX goggles. “It was a tough race tonight, I couldn’t get in a good flow and everybody was riding really well. I wanted to just stay consistent and finish in a good enough position to win the championship, which is exactly what I was able to do. This season took a lot of hard work and dedication but it all paid off.”
Throwing down the second fastest lap time in practice and dominating his heat race, Justin snatched a second-place start in the Main – cruising consistently thorough 15 laps to claim Lites Glory.
“I was trying to be as smart as I could. I was trying to block my inside and watching it, because the other guys were putting it in there hard. When I’d watch the inside, I’d get passed on the outside. It was really tough for me for sure.”
O’s speed demon blasted out of Louisiana with five victories in eight events and a 42 point lead over Ken Roczen and Darryn Durham in second place.
A huge congratulations from the entire Oakley family!
