    It might as well have been an Oakley event.

    This past week the “Best of the Best” in Mountain Bike gathered in the Catskill Mountains: the home of the infamous Rip Van Winkle. And Oakley athletes displayed their dominance in their respective events. The occasion? The World’s premier riders wrapped up the grueling UCI MTB World Cup which began in the spring and spanned the globe with many stops to challenge the best riders on the toughest race courses. The crucible-feeling event was designed to find and identify the best MTB Racers in the world in each of the three specialties: Olympic cross-country, downhill and 4-cross. And it all came down to the New York event. Five of the six overall titles were decided in just the final moments of competition.

    If any female shredders that headed to Mount Washington Alpine Resort in early August were in any way jaded on bikes before making the trip, that changed real quick.

    Oakley Team Rider Darcy Turenne made sure to bring stoke at the first annual ‘See Jane Jump’ Women’s Mountain Bike Festival. As the organizer of the event, she had the 50 attending riders, ranging in skill level from beginner to expert, greeted by gift bags filled with goodies by event sponsors Oakley, Norco, Gravity, Denman Island Chocolates and Vitamin Water. And soon after the gals collected their swag, head coach Katrina Strand paired riders up with one of nine pro coaches.

    When Oakley shows up to a pro mountain bike event, it goes big.

    Just ask the celebrities that took part in O’s Learn to Ride event at the Crankworx Pro Mountain Bike Event (Whistler).

    The spirited event created so much of a buzz that popular TV show, Entertainment Tonight, threw Oakley’s event front and center in the spotlight during one of their broadcasts.
