Layne Beachley wins VB Surfmasters NSW State Titles

Layne Beachley

Oakley’s 7 X ASP World Champion Layne Beachley stepped out of retirement to compete in the VB Surfmasters NSW State Titles at Seal Rocks.
She didn’t just compete though, she took the title winning her final in 6 foot swell and showing us all that she still has it!
“It’s so beautiful here, the surf is perfect, I feel like I have had a holiday”, said Beachley after winning the Over 35 Women’s NSW title.
This wasn’t the first time Beachley had won the title though.
“Claiming this title back in 1988 was the foundation for my professional surfing career. I got a lot of confidence from winning the regional titles and then the NSW titles, it was hugely important for me and still is to competitors today”, said Beachley.
After the Over 35 Women’s final the Masters started with some of the greats still ripping.
“It really inspires me watching the older guys, they don’t give up. Seeing the over 55’s still ripping on short boards inspires me to keep it real and stay on short boards as long as I can” said Beachley.
